How do I install this in my player?

Download the complete firmware to your player as per the pjrc instructions or recompile the code with the mp3.mcs file replaced.

How do I know which FPGA I'm using?

The startup screen will tell you which device you are using. It will either say "Config FPGA: OK (pjrc)" or "Config FPGA: OK (vhdl)"

Why would I want to use this?

To help me test it. Otherwise I'm not sure since it is the same as the pjrc download at the moment.
